Homebuilder Customer Reviews

No one knows more about a homebuilder's quality and service than the builder's customers.

Since 1984, Eliant has been independently evaluating the performance of homebuilders across the U.S., Canada, and the Middle East:

  • We ask recent homebuyers to evaluate their builder's purchase process.
  • Then, we ask homeowners to evaluate their builder's quality and service (1) after the first 5-months in the home, and (2) again at the end of the first year.

In "Homebuilder Customer Reviews", we present the ratings and comments collected from new-home buyers at these three points in time.

Eliant verifies that only evaluations completed by actual customers are included in this "Homebuilder Customer Reviews" site. No other evaluations - whether collected by the builder or those appearing on other public sites - are included here. All customer comments are included verbatim, no editing is permitted.

Our PCO was somewhat stressful as a majority of them items had to be redone after closing as the repairs weren’t satisfactory the first time. [name removed] was awesome to work with. He went above and beyond, working on his days off and fighting for us to get the best deal possible. He also helped to ensure the repairs we requested were done correctly.

Liked: We had a wonderful experience working with our agent, [name removed]. She was incredibly professional, friendly, and accommodating throughout the entire process. As we were relocating from [name removed], she made sure our limited visits were productive and efficient, which we greatly appreciated. Disliked: This is the third home we've built, and unfortunately, we aren't thrilled by the amount of trash left about by the construction crew. Part of the daily clean up should include picking up trash.

First night in had a huge water leak from upstairs shower rushing down from ceiling vents and lights. When it came time to fix the issue the century decided to go the cheapest route and only patch up the 2 holes where they cut in order to ventilate area. 10 days we had workers and fans only to find out they will not be replacing the entire area damaged by water but only small areas. This is ridiculous a brand new home on our 1st night.

Mine was a contingent sale and the buyers closed on Friday but did not disburse until Monday. I had to wait until my deed was recorded which was in the afternoon before I could pick up my keys. I understand the legality, but I felt like I should have been able to get keys when the funds were confirmed because we literally had 5 hours to move everything out of my old house.

This was my first homebuying experience, and I could not be more pleased! All of the horror stories that friends and family had put in my mind has made me hesitant to buy for years. The homebuying experience for this house has instead been a dream scenario. Everybody has been so kind, knowledgeable, and accommodating (last minute health issues popped up and they had to spring into action to ensure that nothing in the process would interfere with my ability to focus on that. Everybody was helpful beyond measure! Sometimes I would ask a random question or just mention something offhand, and [name removed], [name removed], and [name removed] would spring into action! I have been telling all of my friends and family to look for Century Communities first when they want to purchase a home (whether it is their first home or just their next home). If Century Communities always does things (and hires these kinds of people) at each of their homesites, you really cannot choose any better.

[name removed] from the Century community team did a great job handling the whole process. The loan process, however, was very extensive, and I haven't seen it with other properties I have recently acquired. The house has a nice park, but when it rains, I have seen it turn into a lake, which was kind of a safety hazard. This was the only flag I had so far..

Communication from the sales team was inconsistent, and at times felt like a bait-and-switch. Prior to contract, certain terms were presented that were later backtracked or changed. For example, I was told solar would be included with the home, only to be informed the next day that it was not included. The pricing also lacked transparency—there were flash sales, but it was never fully clear how the final price was determined. I had to be extremely proactive to get accurate information. There was a noticeable disconnect between the builder and the sales team, which required constant follow-up on my part to get reliable answers. I also felt significant pressure to use the builder’s preferred lender. As a first-time homebuyer, this was especially frustrating, particularly because using an outside lender caused confusing changes to the overall home price. Overall, I often felt I was driving the sale forward rather than being guided through the process in a clear and supportive way.

Everything is fine, but some of the sockets in the rooms do not turn on, the shutters and gates do not open and close easily. I will be happy if you pay attention to this part. And there are corners of the nailed carpet that hurt our feet every time, it would be better to install it properly.

[name removed] said: Since I don’t actually make purchases or go through moving experiences, I can’t speak from personal experience, but I can imagine some of the common aspects that people either like or dislike about their purchase journey. For example, many people appreciate the excitement of finding the right place and the clarity in the contract. Clear communication from the seller or landlord is a big plus. However, the paperwork can sometimes feel overwhelming, and delays with inspections or move-in dates can be frustrating. Also, unexpected fees or hidden costs often catch people by surprise. Like: [name removed] has been amazing at helping us and making sure our home feels like our home. He's friendly, kind, and real with us regarding all the things happening here. Both my fiance and I have loved working with him since we met him. Dislike: [name removed] and [name removed] (at first impression and email, though he's redeemed himself as of late). [name removed] not only talks down to you as if you're not intelligent, but has the audacity to treat our RE agent (whom is good friend) with disrespect. Only when I told her her tone and use of language wasn't a good look did she adjust - slightly. [name removed] had a horrible first impression from the start. He was accusatory and rude when we showed up for an appointment we made with your booker through online and text. Luckily, we have really good friends that live in the area, otherwise, we might have gone else where. The email that tells us when our appointment is absurd. Treat people like adults that are spending well over $600,000 with your company and ask if they are available - and please update that email template. [name removed] though since has been kind, warm and helpful in many ways. It really shows the character that young man has to here a critique and own to it and adjust.

This is our second home purchased from Century Communities, and the only reason we chose to move forward with this particular deal was because of [name removed]’s professionalism, honesty, and integrity. While we’re happy with our first home, our experience with the sales team during that process was disappointing and left us frustrated. Working with [name removed] was a completely different experience — her transparency and care made all the difference.
