No one knows more about a homebuilder's quality and service than the builder's customers.

Since 1984, Eliant has been independently evaluating the performance of homebuilders across the U.S., Canada, and the Middle East:

  • We ask recent homebuyers to evaluate their builder's purchase process.
  • Then, we ask homeowners to evaluate their builder's quality and service (1) after the first 5-months in the home, and (2) again at the end of the first year.

In "Homebuilder Customer Reviews", we present the ratings and comments collected from new-home buyers at these three points in time.

Aside from the amazing construction quality of the home, [name removed], [name removed] and [name removed] were fantastic to work with. We received weekly updates with pictures that made the time pass by faster. They have also been extremely friendly and knowledgeable even with questions aside of their responsibilities like lawn care routines and aftercare for the home. If only I had enough money to purchase another house to experience it all over again. 10/10 will recommend to family and I believe the house will convince as well.

I felt a little rushed at the beginning. It would have been nice to put down the deposit and be given a week to pre qualify before being pressured to put down earnest. The preferred lending team was sub par. The builder did offer great incentives and that was part of reason why we did de I’d to contract with century communities. One of the best experiences I’ve had during an inspection, everything annotated was corrected, nothing was blown off including notes from our third party inspector. A few items were delayed including our fence- weather dependent but otherwise it was overall a great experience - easy and quick

I am dis-satisfied with the way management has treated me (a second time buyer in the same community). They have threatened to cancel the contract unilaterally and not honor the deal which was signed (my understanding is they had back up offer and wanted to pursue that). I had to escalate the matter to the national president and VP of the company. To add more I have not been the only one which I found out later whose contract had been cancelled unilaterally or asked to amend the contract for a higher price then originally agreed. Senior management needs to investigates cases like these where management has been changing or cancelling the contracts. I was lucky enough to find the right people in the system to look into my individual situation. They also did not honor my realtor and he didn’t get paid in the whole process. This is another thing which I believe was enforced by the sales representative. I have instances with in same time period where realtor rebates were honored when realtor for whatever reason was not present in the first meeting. And my next door’s realtor didn’t even come and he was still honored a realtor rebate. This is absolutely biased behavior!

The process itself was great, [name removed] was very helpful. If I had to complain about anything it would be part of the move in package. Don't get me wrong we were very happy to not have to purchase appliances, but the fridge is the only issue. It's so small, smaller than the space that it goes in, it's not very deep and doesn't hold much. It also make all sorts of sounds that most don't make. I know that's a small issue, but it's an issue.

Signing and closing experience is smooth. 10/10 Few minor fixes are needed. Those are getting covered under Warrenty after I created a ticket. Would be great if those can be fixed prior to closing

Communication and feeling like I was part of the process

We had some unfortunate experiences with your sales team. Our experiences with [name removed] nearly led us to void our contract during the buying process. We are both healthcare providers responsible for human lives. [name removed] has commitments to patients who travel from out-of-state and even internationally for care. I personally took the time to explain this to [name removed] during our first meeting and requested we please schedule in advance any appointments so we could make arrangements for our patients. Despite my efforts which included discussing with her face-to-face on June 29th, follow-up communication via my realtor on July 8th and 9th, [name removed] refused to communicate with us. Instead of having a conversation to learn what may work for all parties, we were assigned dates and times that conflicted with our clinic schedules. She was immediately made aware we were not available. Despite my offering available of times and even offering all day availability for a quick call to discuss and arrange times, [name removed] communicated disrespectfully to us via email: “you must make yourself available during business hours” demanding our presence with only 2 or 3 business days notice.  As someone who spends their days navigating people’s most complex physical and mental health conditions, words cannot explain the degree of hurt I experienced when I received this email from [name removed]. [name removed] was disrespectful to us as clients. Additionally, with regards to the nature of our work, this is offensive. Ultimately, we were left with no choice but to schedule the pre-walk when [name removed] could not move any patients. To compensate for this, our realtor arranged a walk the day before the pre-walk for us to place tape for my husband to have an opportunity to see what needed to be done. [name removed] met us to let us in the home, and despite being aware of the purpose of our presence, scolded us saying we couldn’t not put tape up because it would not match the foreman’s colors. When attempting to engage in conversation with her, she abruptly left the home citing us for aggression. What adds further frustration is during my pre-walk with [name removed], I learned his hours are actually 7-5 Monday to Friday. Should [name removed] have taken the time to speak to me or even connect me with [name removed] and schedule with advanced notice, we could have found a time that would have worked for everyone. Instead, I was forced to attend possibly the most important (and likely most expensive) 3 hours of my life without my spouse—because of your sales associate. It was [name removed]’s lack of willingness to speak with me (the customer) to find something that actually worked. Instead she tried to bully me. On Tuesday, July 23rd during the pre-walk when I inquired about the fence to be completed on the north side of the home that had been agreed upon during purchasing, [name removed] informed me [name removed] had not made him aware of this. Immediately following our meeting (that concluded around noon) at 12:57 [name removed] called me to notify me [name removed] changed the master building plan to include a fence on the South side. Initially we had agreed to the fence being done on the north side because there are owners in the home neighboring the south of whom has agreed to split the cost of the fence with us.  [name removed] did his best to correct this, however on the day of closing, the fence was being installed on the incorrect side.  This ultimately involved follow-up calls from both [name removed] and I that took over an hour of my time--again due to lack of communication from [name removed].   [name removed] lacks the emotional maturity and integrity to support customers. As someone who manages staff of my own, repeated offenses of this nature as demonstrated in our horrific experience would result in automatic termination.  I would hesitate to recommend Century communities to anyone because of our unfortunate experience working with her.
