Purchase Experience Testimonials from Real Homebuyers

Celina, TX, on Sep 16, 2024

Firstly about pre-approval - I got pre-approval last year and after that we paid earnest amount and proceeded with our new home construction. Secondly, in the month of July -2024 BHOME mortgage disagree to approve our home loan due to the unavailability local tax returns and W2. During the pre-approval time it was clear to Normandy sales team as well as BHOME that I am working overseas in Saudi Arabia and doesn't have US tax returns and W2 to purchase new home. Moreover all the documents prior to pre-approval was submitted from my overseas employer (Saudi Arabia) and your team from Normandy and BHOME communicated to my HR team about my employment and various other details from my company. Thirdly, In July just 15 or 20 days before the closing your sales team and BHOME mortgage communicated about the loan rejection. Fourthly, Normandy sales team further advised us to go with TWO other mortgage companies and all efforts vent in vain leading to lots of hassles and chaos. Moreover Normandy sales team was emphasizing more on closing and giving us the warning that if remaining amount not paid timely then earnest money will not be returned. We are not at fault in any case. Fifth, it was communicated to Normandy homes sales team about the realtor information based on their feedback that Normandy homes is not going to proceed further unless we furnish the details of realtor. However during the signing of contractor your sales coordinator Ms. [name removed] informed us that she will take care of the realtor details later us to expedite the process and even after sending the realtor details she didn’t incorporate it in our contractor leading to lots of hassles and paying huge amount out from our pocket. Lastly, Normandy higher management contacted us in this regards and when we explained the whole situation they instead taking it politely started blaming us and the whole debate with president of the company was not acceptable. We feel that Normandy homes doesn’t respect customer. ‘No customer satisfaction”.

In the nearly 6 months that I have lived in this new home, I have had several issues and literally every month I have to contact Warranty team to fix one or other issues, and most of them stem from poor quality of workmanship! For a premium product you are selling, I expected the quality to be of top notch, but only after moving in and started living in the house I realize the quality is not worth the premium you are charging and really wonder what kind of quality control you have in place! If you were to pay more than $1000 for an iPhone and then you have to visit Apple Store to fix one or other issues every month, would you be happy with that?

Response time from warranty service was reasonable. However, there's a consistent tendency to blame external factors rather than Normandy for poor quality of the home. This is particularly evident in the ongoing light flickering issue. As an experienced RE investor, this isn't my first purchase, nor will it be my last. Based on this experience, I've decided against buying [name removed] or any affiliated homes in the future.

We painted our kitchen cabinets through normandy. The quality is worst. I spoke to many painters and all of them mentioned that this can only happen if bad quality or diluted paint is used. The paint keeps getting stuffed even with minor touch and cleaning them is impossible as the paint comes off. I never expected such cheap quality paint

First of all, my wife and I didn’t have any dislike about my purchase experience. The sales manager, [name removed], did a great job from the contract through closing because during the time she always gave us updated information about the progress of the construction on a weekly basis and asked if we have any questions. She was very responsive to our questions and got resolved or answered quickly. After closing, we found out there was an error about the zip code of our house on the Warranty Deed, she addressed the issue to the title company immediately and followed up closely until satisfactory resolved.

The design center appointment was poorly executed and not communicated well. I was rushed through the appointment to make selections only to be done early. Availability of options and the agent communication wasn’t upto mark while we were on the wait list. Lastly we wanted to pay for higher upgrades but they were told not to be available only to find out our neighbors have them now.

Homebuilder Customer Reviews

No one knows more about a homebuilder's quality and service than the builder's customers.

Since 1984, Eliant has been independently evaluating the performance of homebuilders across the U.S., Canada, and the Middle East:

  • We ask recent homebuyers to evaluate their builder's purchase process.
  • Then, we ask homeowners to evaluate their builder's quality and service (1) after the first 5-months in the home, and (2) again at the end of the first year.

In "Homebuilder Customer Reviews", we present the ratings and comments collected from new-home buyers at these three points in time.

Eliant verifies that only evaluations completed by actual customers are included in this "Homebuilder Customer Reviews" site. No other evaluations - whether collected by the builder or those appearing on other public sites - are included here. All customer comments are included verbatim, no editing is permitted.
