We’ve been very happy with our home. The quality is good and the Classic staff from sales to the building project superintendent have been awesome!

The people have made all the difference. What normally might be an impersonal, corporate relationship becomes a one-on-one, "we're in this together," familial relationship. Greatly appreciated. Dislike #1: Starting the build going into winter and the resulting worry about future concrete problems due to the less than ideal curing environment - e.g. progressive hair-line cracks in patio concrete (previous service request); visible external and internal diagonal foundation cracks at the basement level, mechanical room area during construction. The interior crack in the mechanical room was identified by me and deemed superficial by an engineer, I'm told. Although, I did not ID the (before framing and back filling) external crack, hopefully, they were obvious enough to the construction team to be inspected and deemed superficial as well. But having any kind of crack in new concrete - superficial or otherwise - to this layman, is disturbing. If I remember correctly, the interior crack were slathered over before the insulation was applied. The interior mechanical room crack started just above my 5'9" height on the east wall and ran downward perhaps 12"-15" before it turned onto the south wall and ran diagonally toward the floor the width of the south wall stopping on the other side of the framing near the floor and inside what would be the rec room closet. Dislike #2: HVAC floor vents being used as dust bins with all the debris, dust, wood and drywall scraps falling into them or more likely swept into them. When our construction got to that point, I asked John if the floor ducts could be covered. Voi-la, on our next visit, the floor ducting had expertly-fitted, screwed-down sheet metal panels over each and every floor duct. However, when the dry-walling started on our next visit, the panel were bent up out of the way or removed completely. At the time, I did not understand why they would rip up the floor vent covers after they were so carefully placed. I was not given a reason, but I imagined that in the process of dry-walling and mudding, the installers run the furnace to expedite the walls' drying time. Even though the vents are vacuumed after dry wall is finished, the dust and some debris must remain in the HVAC ducts. I don't suppose there is a reasonable alternative to running the HVAC, since the HVAC does provide a more even whole-house heating than using portable space heaters. That being the case, perhaps the third party contractors could use a four-pronged (plastic or metal) cover that could be placed into and over the floor vents as a dust/debris shield and easily plucked out and put aside for furnace operation. Dislike #3: Shortly after moving in June of 2024, we had a heavy rain. As a result, the water puddled on the edge of the patio and next to the window wells. Mud and water seeped into the window well between seems of the metal well and the gaps between the window well and the side of the house and onto the well's rock base. I am caulking all visible seems and gaps. Dislike #4: Call it a pet peeve: Third party construction persons discarding their meal and drink trash around the property inside and out. A favorite depository of said persons is inside the newly constructed kitchen island enclosure. The second most popular depositories are probably the window wells. Suggestion: Allow the wives and girlfriends regular visits to scold/nag them when they're untidy. FYI Funnies: On one visit during construction, we found an empty can of Modelo deep inside the kitchen island enclosure along with other debris. On another visit, we found an empty beer can in a basement closet. Upon leaving after a visit, I picked up some outside debris and went to throw it in the nearest dumpster and noticed inside loosely XXXXX tered and unopened cans of Modelo and a mostly intact case of Modelo. I suspect someone was caught in the act and suffered the consequences.

We appreciated the professionalism of everyone involved in the process. From the sales office thru the closing team and builders who provided the walkthroughs. We also really appreciated that we never felt sales pressure from the staff or like we were being forced to compromise to buy something we weren't interested in.

Liked: Representatives were always there when I needed them and always kept me in the loop of any status updates. Disliked: There were a few minor details that were not disclosed to me that had I known prior to purchase, I most likely would have purchased a different lot.

The Sales office had no clue what they were talking about - and in an email communication described the lot next store to mine completely incorrectly The Build quality is horrible in my new classic home, drains were not properly handled, tiles in bathroom cracked, heating duct work makes noise that classic won't fix. -- Classic is a terrible company with terrible sales.

We were supposed to have a new home walkthrough after we closed, but we never had it and it wasn’t rescheduled for us.

The atmosphere in the sales office is comfortable and welcoming. Julie and Hayden were absolutely wonderful guiding us through the process. From looking at lots to answering questions. They both are knowledgeable., professional and personable. They made us feel appreciated and cared for. We received pictures every week on how our new home was coming along, Jessica at the design center was fabulous. She made our vision for our new home come together and we could not be more pleased of the outcome. Jessica is easy to work with. She is personable , professional, knowledgeable and pays great attention to detail. Mickey who was overseeing the build called us every week to give us an update on what happened with our home build and what was planned the following week. We found him easy to work with. he is detail orientated, knowledgeable, professional and personable. Any time we had questions or found issues he made sure they were resolved to our satisfaction. He cared for our home build as he would for his own. From the sales office to the completion of our new home the team worked flawlessly together. Creating an anxiety free and wonderful experience for us.

After being the home now for a few months we've noticed some things we would have chosen or changed. Such as life.

At the moment, the biggest frustration is with the HOA who refused to communicate any details/updates at all on the landscape deposit that was paid at the time of closing. If the Classic team could help with that, that would likely change my overall evaluation to a "10"

Homebuilder Customer Reviews

No one knows more about a homebuilder's quality and service than the builder's customers.

Since 1984, Eliant has been independently evaluating the performance of homebuilders across the U.S., Canada, and the Middle East:

  • We ask recent homebuyers to evaluate their builder's purchase process.
  • Then, we ask homeowners to evaluate their builder's quality and service (1) after the first 5-months in the home, and (2) again at the end of the first year.

In "Homebuilder Customer Reviews", we present the ratings and comments collected from new-home buyers at these three points in time.

Eliant verifies that only evaluations completed by actual customers are included in this "Homebuilder Customer Reviews" site. No other evaluations - whether collected by the builder or those appearing on other public sites - are included here. All customer comments are included verbatim, no editing is permitted.
