Purchase Experience Testimonials from Real Homebuyers

It was a very smooth process overall and I really liked the communication from [name removed] and [name removed]. They were always available to answer any questions or concerns we had. A major issue I would like to point out is that our home was not registered with USPS and it has been a nightmare trying to get our mail and packages since the move-in. I’m not sure whether this is a builder or a developer problem, but it is a major issue and it must be addressed. It was brought up with [name removed] management. It didn’t seem like they were taking the issue seriously. The other thing I would like to see, improve some of the basic features in the home because it felt like we were nickel and dimed for things that should be standard within a home nowadays.

Design center process was very painful, slow, confusing and staff wasn't very helpful. There are some areas of build are not upto the mark like lawn, paint, cabinets, irrigation etc.

The sales manager ([name removed]) is a very nice person and friendly, who had helped and gave an immense support from contract through move-in. [name removed], the construction manager, is a very good person who had communicated very proactively in all the phases of the house construction, and advised many things from all the perspectives and supported a lot to keep everything in place during and after inspection activity.

Could have been more flexible on certain requests like leveling the back yard which is tapering with more gradient angle.

We had an awful experience from start to finish. During our first meeting with the builder, the stage was set that we will need to meet on his schedule, he will choose what goes and he is not there to accommodate us in any way. During our first meeting as well my career choice was disrespected and he said that "people in tech have nothing to show for in there career". It was discussed that meetings with the builder will only happen 1-2 days a week and in the morning only during a very small window. If we could not make those very few hours work on that day, we would be charged additional fees. Now into the build process, our floors were installed improperly and not to manufacturing specs. When talking to the builder about this issue, he said "how about shaddock says there are good enough and I do nothing". There were giant gaps all over the floor filled in with wood filler. If a product cannot be installed properly, do not use that product. The cabinets have scratches all over the face of the doors and drawers. When our roof was put on, instead of talking over the phone, the builder made us come out in the middle of the week week to try to convince us that the incorrect roof he put on was good enough and we should keep it instead of getting the black roof that we paid extra for. A very small percentage of the blue tape imperfections were fixed because he got pissy about the floors being installed poorly. During our walkthrough half of our inspection items he said he would not correct. Also after that walkthrough and bluetape, the builder said if I did not sign right there in that moment, he would not fix anything from our blue tape or inspection and we will take the house as is and the exact words were, "if you don't sign, I will sign for you and I'll fix none of this and you'll take the house as it is". On our contract is said that we had to have our 3rd party inspection done within 14 days of closing, and he gave us only one day (a Sunday) to have our inspection done. And because that one day was within 2 weeks of closing, our VA appraiser was supposed to come out after that inspection, and because he would not let an inspector come at 14 days or more, the VA appraiser has 10 business days to do the appraisal and she did it on her last day of those 10 days. Overall, because of this small window, closing was pushed and we had to pay extra fees because of the builder. All in all, it was very clear the the builder runs the show, and [name removed] has no control over their builders and they can be as disrespectful as they want to whoever they want. Also we were told from the sales agent that our lot would be similar to the model and our yard and rear of the house would be similar. Now we find out that not even a small sedan will fit in our own driveway and we both have to park on the streek after paying over 500k for a house, which is insane and a huge lapse on the sales team and the promises they made.

Homebuilder Customer Reviews

No one knows more about a homebuilder's quality and service than the builder's customers.

Since 1984, Eliant has been independently evaluating the performance of homebuilders across the U.S., Canada, and the Middle East:

  • We ask recent homebuyers to evaluate their builder's purchase process.
  • Then, we ask homeowners to evaluate their builder's quality and service (1) after the first 5-months in the home, and (2) again at the end of the first year.

In "Homebuilder Customer Reviews", we present the ratings and comments collected from new-home buyers at these three points in time.

Eliant verifies that only evaluations completed by actual customers are included in this "Homebuilder Customer Reviews" site. No other evaluations - whether collected by the builder or those appearing on other public sites - are included here. All customer comments are included verbatim, no editing is permitted.
